Developing Control Plans

In the Control Phase of Six Sigma, developing Control Plans is crucial. This process involves establishing steps to ensure that the improvements made during the project are sustained over time.Control Plans typically include the following key elements:

Documentation of the Current Process: Clearly document the improved process, including updated procedures, workflows, and instructions.

Control Methods: Identify and implement methods for monitoring and controlling the process. This often includes statistical process control techniques.

Response Plan: Develop a plan for responding to process variations. This includes identifying potential issues and outlining corrective actions.

Responsibility Assignment: Assign specific responsibilities for monitoring and maintaining the process improvements.Process Ownership: Identifying the process owner within the document is crucial for accountability.

Training Requirements: Identify and arrange for any necessary training to ensure that all relevant staff are aware of the new processes and their roles.

Monitoring Schedule: Set up a regular schedule to review process performance, ensuring ongoing compliance and identifying opportunities for further improvement.

Update Documentation: Keep all process documentation current to reflect any changes or improvements made over time.Identification Information: This includes the company division or department name, the names of the person who created the plan and who last edited it, along with the respective dates.

Project/Process Details: It should clearly state the project or process name or identifier.

Process Steps Requiring Control Actions: A detailed list of process steps where control actions are required should be included. This ensures that each critical part of the process is monitored and maintained properly.

By meticulously developing and implementing a Control Plan, organizations can maintain the gains achieved through their Six Sigma projects, ensuring long-term, sustainable improvement.
